Which Angler Are You?
A Lighthearted Guide to Fishing Personalities
Welcome to the angler’s gallery at Kubbu & Kwena, where the fishing tales are as diverse as the species in the water. Share this with a friend who fits the mold and let the banter begin! #NameAndShame
1. The No-Show:
All the gear, no idea. The No-Show boasts an arsenal of top-notch fishing gear but can’t seem to reel in a single fish. It’s all about the look and none about the hook.
2. The Petrolhead:
Engines roaring, waves splashing—meet the Petrolhead. More interested in the speed of the boat than the catch of the day, this angler is all about breaking the sound barrier on water: 2 x 500hp Yammies on a bath tub – flat taps!
3. The "Intellectual":
Petrolhead, but swap out Yamaha for Suzuki. Equally enthralled by the mechanics, but with an undying loyalty to a different brand. Ready for a debate on engine superiority at any given moment.
4. The Wannabe:
This angler uses gloves to put a worm on a hook. Because when you’re out to catch a fish, you should do it in style.
5. The Fly Guy:
The fly guy will observe a scenario, analyse the river, structures, and variables, start a sentence with: “Us flyfishers…” and then proceed to loudly share information that is not applicable, irrelevant and not in the least interesting. He will then put down his rod, unscrew his Stanley flask (name etched in. “Mr Fly” ) and sip some kind of single malt-something killed with ice.
6. The New Guy:
Fresh on the scene and thrilled about out-fishing everyone else. The New Guy is quiet and unassuming at first, but as the tally stacks up he develops an air of “Alphaness” around day 3. It does not sit well with the OG’s.
7. The Chatterbox:
This angler has a constant commentary, narrating every move and thought. If the fish could understand, they’d probably roll their eyes. Tag the friend who never stops talking, even when the fish are supposedly biting. This guy probably plays golf and will be quick with: “What you want to do in this case…”
8. The Minimalist:
Travelling light is an art, and the Minimalist has mastered it. Armed with just a rod, a lure, and a pocketful of optimism, this angler believes less is more.

Client Testimonials
Our Angling guide Charles (Tiger King) did the magic and put us on big fish from the go. We managed to land 41 tigers 145LB in total with some nice tigers 13LB ,16Lb and 18LB.
Johann that's always willing to assist great job team Kubu and Kwena . We will be back."
We swam in a cage in the river with crocs close..ish by, the kids caught 3 nice tigers and we explored the area on mountain (fat) bikes, got in some amazing birding, and most importantly chilled and enjoyed family time with beautiful views.
Johann and Michelle were excellent hosts with a clear passion for what they are doing.”
